"Ich möchte nicht tagsüber spielen, weil ich im Rhythmus bin", sagte der deutsche Tennisstar nach seinem souveränen Dreisatzsieg in der dritten Runde gegen Alejandro Tabilo in New York.
Zverev hat sich an die ungewöhnlichen Zeiten gewöhnt. Er sei bislang nicht ein einziges Mal vor vier, fünf Uhr schlafen gegangen. "Da möchte ich jetzt nicht um Zwölf spielen", sagte er. Zverev rechnet fest damit, dass er auch gegen den Italiener Luciano Darderi am Abend im Arthur Ashe Stadium ran muss: "Der Turnierdirektor ist super nett, er gibt mir die Wahl."
Bislang waren alle drei Zverev-Matches erst mitten in der Nacht nach 1 Uhr Ortszeit beendet. Am Sonntagnachmittag (Ortszeit) wird entschieden, wann Zverev am Montag spielt.
