ضرب زلزال قوي شرق اندونيسيا في وقت مبكر السبت، موقعا قتيلا على الأقل وأربعة جرحى بحسب فرق الإغاثة.
ويجري حاليا تقييم مدى الأضرار بعد الزلزال الذي بلغت قوته 7,7 درجات بحسب هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأميركية والذي وقع قبالة جزيرة فلوريس.
وكانت حصيلة سابقة أفادت عن وقوع قتيلين.
وحدد المرصد الأميركي مركز الزلزال الذي وقع في الساعة 5,58 (21,58 ت غ) قبالة سواحل شمال الجزيرة، على بعد نحو 68 كيلومترا شمال غرب مقاطعة اندي، وعلى عمق 10 كيلومترات فقط.
وأعقبت الزلزال هزتان ارتداديتان في نفس المنطقة بقوة 5,6 و5,9 درجة.
وحذرت السلطات الإندونيسية من حدوث تسونامي، غير أن التحذير رفع بعد وقت قصير.
وتشهد إندونيسيا والدول المجاورة لها زلازل بشكل متكرر نظرا لوقوعها ضمن حلقة النار في المحيط الهادئ، وهي سلسلة من المناطق النشطة زلزاليا تمتد من اليابان مرورا بجنوب شرق آسيا وعبر حوض المحيط الهادئ.
