أفادت الحكومة البريطانية الاثنين، بأن نحو 71.3% من إنكلترا تعاني الجفاف، وذلك بعدما شهدت البلاد شهر تموز/يوليو الأكثر جفافا على الإطلاق، مع توقع بدء موجة حر خامسة وأمطار قليلة الأسبوع المقبل.
وقالت وزارة البيئة "يعاني نحو ثلاثة أرباع إنكلترا الجفاف راهنا، مع تدهور الأوضاع عقب بداية جافة لشهر آب/أغسطس"، لافتة الى "كل مناطق البلاد تواجه ضغوطا على مواردها المائية".
