Die deutschen Beachvolleyballer Nils Ehlers und Lui Wüst haben bei der EM-Generalprobe in Hamburg ein Ausrufezeichen gesetzt. Das Duo gewann am Samstagabend 2:1 (18:21, 24:22, 15:10) gegen die schwedischen Weltranglistenersten Jacob Hölting Nilsson und Elmer Andersson und zog in das Halbfinale des Elite16-Events der Pro Tour ein.
Vor der am Mittwoch beginnenden EM im polnischen Stare Jablonki (bis 16. August) präsentieren sich Ehlers und Wüst in starker Form. Im Halbfinale treffen sie nun auf die Letten Martins Plavins und Kristians Fokerots.
Bei den Frauen waren zuvor Svenja Müller und Cinja Tillmann im Viertelfinale ausgeschieden. Die Europameisterinnen von 2024 verloren 0:2 (16:21, 22:24) gegen die Italienerinnen Valentina Gottardi und Reka Orsi Toth.
