Fußball-Nationalspieler Nadiem Amiri hat nach anhaltenden Wechselgerüchten ein Bekenntnis zu Mainz 05 abgegeben. "Über mich wurde ja viel geschrieben. Ich habe mich heute mit der Familie entschieden, auf jeden Fall hierzubleiben", sagte der 29-Jährige am Samstag bei einem Fanabend im Rahmen des Mainzer Trainingslagers. Im Saal brach daraufhin lauter Jubel aus.
"Es gab viele Gerüchte und ich hatte auch wirklich viele Angebote", sagte Amiri, dessen Vertrag in Mainz noch bis 2028 läuft. Der Mittelfeldspieler war 2024 von Bayer Leverkusen nach Mainz gewechselt. Für die deutsche Nationalmannschaft absolvierte er bislang 13 Länderspiele, davon zwei bei der WM 2026.
