اعتبر لاعب الوسط رودري قائد منتخب إسبانيا الفائز بكأس العالم 2026 لكرة القدم على حساب الأرجنتين 1-0 بعد التمديد الأحد، أن "الفوز مع منتخب بلادك هو أجمل شيء على الإطلاق"، وذلك خلال استقبال أُقيم في مقر الحكومة الإسبانية برئاسة بيدرو سانشيس في مدريد.
وقال رودري "أقولها دائما: الفوز مع منتخب بلادك هو أجمل شيء على الإطلاق، لا سيّما بكأس العالم. رفع الكأس هو أعظم إنجاز يمكنك تحقيقه في كرة القدم".
وأضاف "نشأ هذا الجيل وهو يشاهد (إيكر) كاسياس و(أندريس) إنييستا يرفعان الكأس (2010)، وأن نتمكن من تحقيق ذلك اليوم، هو أعظم إنجاز يمكنك تحقيقه في كرة القدم".
يُذكر أن رودري وهو لاعب مانشستر سيتي الإنكليزي، كان قد اختير أفضل لاعب في المونديال الأميركي الشمالي.
