El tenista griego Stefanos Tsitsipas, exnúmero 3 del mundo, puso fin el domingo a una sequía de casi un año y medio sin ganar un torneo, imponiéndose al belga Raphaël Collignon en la final del torneo ATP 250 de Gstaad, Suiza.
Tsitsipas ganó 6-4, 6-7 (3/7), 6-3 y se convirtió así en el primer griego en ganar ese torneo de tierra batida, con el que sumó el 13º trofeo de su palmarés, el primero desde su victoria en el ATP 500 de Dubái el 1 de marzo de 2025.
El jugador de 27 años ha caído hasta el N.85 del ranking ATP este año, tras haber alcanzado el N.3 en 2021. A lo largo de su carrera ha disputado y perdido dos finales de Grand Slam, en Roland Garros en 2021 y en el Abierto de Australia en 2023.
El griego ganó el Masters ATP de 2019 y el Masters 1000 de Montecarlo en tres ocasiones (2021, 2022 y 2024).
Con su victoria sucede en el palmarés al kazajo Alexander Bublik. Por su parte Collignon, de 24 años y número 42 del ranking ATP, perdió su primera final en el circuito.
