US-Basketballstar Jalen Brunson (29) hat sich einer Operation am linken Handgelenk unterzogen. Wie der TV-Sender ESPN berichtete, spielte der Star-Point-Guard von NBA-Champion New York Knicks bereits während der Meistersaison mit der Verletzung, er werde aber voraussichtlich pünktlich zur neuen Saison ab Oktober wieder einsatzfähig sein.
Brunson, der zum Most Valuable Player (MVP) der NBA-Finals gewählt worden war, soll das Training im Spätsommer wieder aufnehmen. In der abgelaufenen Spielzeit, in der die Knicks den ersten NBA-Titel seit 53 Jahren gefeiert hatten, erzielte er in den Finals in fünf Spielen im Schnitt 32,6 Punkte.
