Le président français Emmanuel Macron est attendu en Syrie, a annoncé dimanche la présidence syrienne sans préciser la date de sa visite, qui sera la première d'un chef d'Etat d'une puissance occidentale depuis l'arrivée au pouvoir fin 2024 du président Ahmad al-Chareh.
Il s'agit du premier déplacement en Syrie d'un président français depuis ceux de Nicolas Sarkozy en 2008-2009, avant la rupture provoquée par la répression du "printemps arabe" en 2011 par le pouvoir de Bachar al-Assad. L'émir du Qatar et le président Volodymyr Zelensky se sont rendus en Syrie après la chute d'Assad.
