Japan's Nikkei index drops 6% as tech stocks tank
Japan's benchmark stock index fell more than six percent on Friday with technology firms extending recent heavy losses as investor anxiety grows over how long the AI boom will last.
In afternoon trade, the Nikkei 225 was down 6.02 pecent, or 4026.47 points, at 62,809.07. South Korea's benchmark Kospi index was closed for a public holiday.
