AFP chairman and CEO Emmanuel Hoog is visiting Singapore and Australia on a trip to promote the priorities of the agency that also took in the inauguration of the new Singapore office

The trip is centred on the strategic priorities of video, corporate media and sport which offer strong potential growth for the agency, especially regarding broadcast video.

AFP’s ‘on-demand’ provider of customized production, AFP-Services, is active in these regions and there are significant possibilities for further development.

Emmanuel Hoog’s journey was also the occasion to meet the team in Singapore and inaugurate with them, on March 25, their new office.

 

 

Travelling in Sydney, Emmanuel Hoog spoke about disinformation at an event hosted by the professional services firm Ernst & Young and the French Australian Chamber of Commerce on March 27, 2018. On this occasion, he also had an interview with the Australia Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

Kate Webb, one of the most remarkable correspondents of the AFP, died in 2007 at the age of 64 years old. Born in New-Zealand, Kate Webb had earned the reputation of an intrepid reporter for her covers of the Vietnam War and other historical events in Asia all along her career. The Kate Webb Prize which bears her name rewards the courage of local journalists in Asia.

“To conclude his journey, Emmanuel Hoog paid a visit to the contributors from the office of Kabul. This visit was also an opportunity to meet the teams of ToloNews. The Independent Afghan TV news station picked up the 2017 Agence France-Presse Kate Webb prize for its fearless reporting in one of the world's most dangerous countries. Awarded by AFP, the prize honours journalists working in perilous or difficult conditions in Asia. It has been created in memory of Kate Webb.

 

 

Emmanuel Hoog also talked with Ahmad Sarmast, a musicologist and trumpet player, who founded the hundred percent feminine orchestra called “Zohra” who has been distinguished this year with the Resistance and Freedom prize of Montluc of which Emmanuel Hoog is a jury member.”
