AFP’s Bulent Kilic chosen as TIME Magazine’s best wire photographer of 2014
The US news magazine TIME announced today that it has picked AFP photographer Bulent Kilic as its ‘Best Wire Photographer of 2014’ for his coverage of the Middle East and Europe.
The 35 year-old Turkish photojournalist won for his coverage of Ukraine, Turkey and Syria.
“His striking, vivid and memorable images have captured the attention of photo editors across the planet,” Time said.
Kilic began his career working for the local press and became a photojournalist in 2003, joining AFP two years later as a freelance. He is currently chief photographer for Turkey.
He has already won several prizes this year, with his work recognized at the Bayeux-Calvados War Correspondents Awards, the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) Awards and the China International Press Contest (CHIPP).
In 2012, Time Magazine chose AFP photographer Marco Longari as its agency photographer of the year for his coverage of Syria, Egypt, Gaza and the West Bank.
