Canada has chosen Germany's TKMS to build new fleet of submarines: Carney

Canada has chosen Germany's Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems to build its new multi-billion-dollar fleet of submarines, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Monday, as his government works to deepen defense ties with European NATO allies.

"I'm pleased to announce that Canada has selected TKMS as the preferred supplier for Canada's patrol submarine project," Carney said in the Atlantic coast city of Halifax before flying to the NATO summit in Turkey.
