Three AFP photojournalists awarded at the China International Press Photo Contest (CHIPP)

Colombian photographer Roberto Schmidt, regional photo chief for South Asian, based in New Delhi, was awarded the Gold prize in the Disaster and Disease News – Stories category, for his pictures of the snowfall which fell over the Everest’s basecamp on April 25, 2015.

French photographer Christophe Archambault, based in Bangkok, was awarded the Silver prize in General News – Stories category, for his work about Rohingya migrants left adrift in the waters between Malaysia and Thailand.

Russian photographer Kyrill Kudryavtsev, based in Moscow, received the Silver prize in the Sports News – Stories category for his series taken during the 47th edition of the Biathlon World Championships held in Kontiolahti, Finland in March 2015.

CHIPP was created in 2005 by the China Photojournalists Society in Shenzhen, in China’s Guangdong Province. For this 12th edition of the Awards, photographers from 29 nationalities received 75 Prizes in 8 separate categories.
